New Orleans Police say the victims of an armed robbery chased the man who robbed and shot at them, but crashed on the I-10 near Clearview.

Investigators say it started around 4:30am when the suspect approached one of the victims outside Spades nightclub on Poydras Street near Claiborne.

"The suspect pulled a gun, put it to the victim’s head, and demanded the victim’s backpack," according to the Major Offense Report.

The investigating officer says when the suspect realized there was nothing in the backpack, he tried to get something else from the victim.

"The suspect then tried to pull the driver out of the vehicle... The victims drove off, the suspect fired shots at the vehicle and then the suspect fled in his vehicle."

It was then, police say, that the victims decided to go after the suspect.

"The victims chased the suspect vehicle into Jefferson Parish, where the victim’s wrecked their vehicle."

The suspect got away.

The report describes him only as an "Unknown Black Male."
