Police arrested a woman after a hit-and-run crash on I-12.

The crash left a 59-year-old man dead. The accident happened Sunday near the Tangipahoa/St. Tammany Parish line around 2 a.m.

Louisiana State Police say the crash occurred as the vehicle driven by Albert Watson of Denham Springs was hit from behind by 52-year-old Deana Marie Collier of Mississippi, who was driving a Toyota Avalon.

Police say Watson was not wearing a seatbelt when his vehicle struck a tree and overturned.

He died after being taken to the hospital.

Police found Collier about a quarter of a mile away and said she had turned her lights off and had called her son.

They also pointed out that she had performed poorly on a field sobriety test.

She was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail for vehicular homicide and felony hit-and-run after being released from the hospital where she was treated for minor injuries from the crash.
