Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto says they have arrested the man wanted for trying to lure a child with candy, then threatening the shoot him.

"This morning, our investigators received a Crimestoppers tip," Captain Jason Rivarde said in a news release.

They arrested 40-year-old Wyman Quinn of Kenner.

He is charged with attempted kidnapping.

Rivarde says the crime happened Saturday in River Ridge.

"Quinn was located and arrested shortly after leaving his residence in the 300 block of Plantation Drive in Kenner earlier today," the captain said. "During interview, Quinn acknowledged that he was the subject in the surveillance photograph and that he had interacted with the victim from his vehicle, but denied attempting to kidnap the victim."

The child told police he was walking through a parking lot in the 11400 block of Jefferson Highway when the suspect approached him.

"The suspect pulled up next to him. The suspect offered the victim candy to get into the vehicle and then threatened to pull a firearm when the victim refused his offer.  The victim returned to the store and told nearby adults of the incident, who notified the police."
