Cooler air arrives in time for Thanksgiving

Some morning showers Thursday

A weak cold front will move across the New Orleans today. 

"This will put an end to the rain by midday," WWL-TV Meteorologist Dave Nussbaum forecasts, "Then the clouds will gradually decrease all afternoon. It will be a much cooler today with temperatures about 10 degrees cooler than Monday."

He says highs will only be in the lower 60s. 

"Tonight will be clear and chilly. Lows north will be in the upper 30s with some frost, so protect plants and pets. South of the lake will be in the mid 40s."

Nussbaum expects sunshine with more cool high temperatures in the 60s Wednesday.

What about Thanksgiving?

"A weak upper-level wave will move over the Central Gulf Wednesday Night into Thursday, Thanksgiving, morning. This will bring us clouds and scattered showers for the first part of Thanksgiving. The rain will end around midday and then we will be mostly cloudy and cool with high temps. in the lower 60s. Overall, it will not be too bad of a Thanksgiving this year."
