Colder, wet weather has arrived

Cool and breezy on St. Patricks Day

After near record warmth Thursday, a change has come.

"The same powerful system creating devastating winds, blizzards, and severe weather outbreaks pushed a cold front through the area late last night," says WWL-TV meteorologist Chris Franklin.

Chris says scattered showers are expected Friday, as the cold front passes through the area.

"We'll see continuing showers Friday, and some Saturday as overrunning moisture will keep clouds and some showers around behind the cold front."

Friday evening and Saturday parades don't look to be a washout, but certainly wet at times and chilly. An upper trough should sweep most of the upper moisture offshore by St. Patrick's Day.

With high pressure in place, most of next week looks great, with mostly sunny skies and afternoon temps in the 60s after morning lows in the 40s and 50s.
