Cold weather to be with us for a while

Lunar eclipse to celebrate Saints' victory tonight!

January 20, 2019 - 11:18 am

Temperatures will stay in the 40s throughout the day Sunday, and with strong north winds, it will feel like the 30s.

"Viewing of the blood-super moon lunar eclipse should be fantastic, though," says WWL-TV meteorologist Chris Franklin. "The moon will turn a blood red color."

It'll begin around 9:30 with the peak just after 11 pm.

We'll have clear skies, but very cold temperatures late tonight.

Freezing temperatures are expected on the Northshore and away from the Lake and city. In the metro area, temps will fall into the mid 30s.

We'll warm into the 50s Monday and near 70 Tuesday.

But, rain and another Arctic front Wednesday will drop temps again to wrap up the week and head into the weekend.

High temperatures at week's end will be back in the 40s.
