The city of New Orleans is getting ready for some impact from Cristobal, especially drenching rains and maybe some high winds.

Get ready for a wet weekend, says New Orleans Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Director Colin Arnold.

"Talking about four to six inches of rain, local amounts higher, but if we get more of an impact of this, we could potentially get up to ten inches or more," Arnold.

The good news, said Arnold, is that would be spread out over a few days, giving the drainage system time to compensate.

"All ninety-nine of their primary major drainage pumps are operational and available for service," he said. Arnold says  a broken turbine has been supplanted by five diesel generators, and they should be able to generate all the power they need.
