Today the New Orleans city council holds a hearing into the Hard Rock collapse and the response to it so far.

Both New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell and New Orleans Inspector General Derry Harper have asked the council to stand down, for fear that their hearings will interfere with ongoing investigations. New Orleans City Council President Helena Moreno believes they can avoid that.

"We certainly understand that there are all different types of investigations happening right now, and we do not want to get in the way of any of those," said Moreno. "We will set up a process...that will create a special committee."

Moreno says the people deserve answers.

"It is our duty to be accountable to the people of this city and to be transparent," she said, "and I do think that the more information that we put out there, the less type of misinformation that will be created."

The meeting starts at 3:00 p.m. at the council meeting room in New Orleans City Hall.
