Children dead after Northshore fire

A ten-year-old girl and a six-year-old boy are dead after a fire in Franklinton early this morning.  Three more children are hospitalized.

"State Fire Marshal deputies are on the scene of a fire investigation involving two deaths and five injuries in the Franklinton area," Public Affairs Director Ashley Rodrigue said in a Facebook post."

It happened in the 45000 block of Beau Drive around 12:45am.

"Upon arrival, firefighters rescued several occupants from the home; however, two children, a 10-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy, were unable to be saved. Three of the five occupants rescued were also children— a 6-year-old girl, 4-year-old girl and 3-year-old boy. All three were air-lifted to Baton Rouge hospitals for treatment."

She says that two adults escaped uninjured.

"SFM deputies are currently conducting their investigation into the origin and cause of this tragic fire."
