Fast food: Once in a while, or once (or more) a week?

Americas love affair with fast food shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control reports over a third of adults are eating fast food at least once a week, and in some cases, every day.

It has raised concerns among health officials since many fast-food items are high in fat and sodium content.

Molly Kimball, registered dietician at Ochsner, says even foods that sound healthy really aren't.

''They market something that looks like it's healthy but when you look at it, its not really better, so it's takes time and experimenting and it also takes time for the restaurants,'' Kimball said.

Kimball says deep fried is a big enemy which is why experts advise grilled instead.

''There are places that offer grilled chicken even grilled chicken nuggets, there's grilled chicken salads with fresh fruit and berries, it's just how do we do it,'' said Kimball.
