New Orleans Police officers are looking for a black 2015 Nissan Altima and the man who stole it when he carjacked a woman and her two children. The incident was caught on video (the incident begins around the 8:30 mark).

Police say it happened last night in the 6900 block of Coventry Street in New Orleans East.

"The victim told police that on March 18, 2019 at or around 8:05 p.m., she was sitting inside of her vehicle with her son and daughter in the back seat when an unknown black male subject knocked on the driver's side window, produced a black handgun and ordered the victim to exit the vehicle," said police. "The subject reportedly opened the rear driver's side door and pulled the victim’s daughter out of the vehicle."

Police say the woman had to scramble to prevent her son from ending kidnapped.

"The subject then entered the victim’s vehicle and put the vehicle in reverse, at which time the victim ran to the back passenger side of the vehicle to remove her son, who was still strapped into his car seat," police said. "The subject then fled the scene heading eastbound on Coventry Street and then southbound on Sheffield Street."
