Big questions about disturbance in the tropics

Models have vastly different projections

New Orleans could see tropical rains this weekend, or see nothing at all.  Forecast models vastly disagree.

"There are some major differences in the models," WWL TV Meteorologist Chris Franklin noted.  "The GFS forecasts the disturbance will head our way as a weak, unorganized rain-maker whereas the Euro hinting at a much stronger storm east of FL."

So, he says it's still not clear if the system dubbed Invest 95 will get into the Gulf of Mexico or not.

"It will depend on where the center develops, if at all," Franklin said. "Something to watch very closely and still a great deal of uncertainty."

If the system stays in the Atlantic, we will feel nothing from it.

If it gets into the Gulf, we could have a few days of rain.
