A zoo in Baton Rouge names their newly born giraffe, Burreaux!

Last month the zoo hosted a naming contest open to the public. Name suggestions flooded in but were narrowed down to three names. The public was asked to finalize the name votes with a $1 donation.

Burreaux, a take-off of Heisman winner LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, beat out the other names in the running, Romeo, and Kiume (which means masculine and strong in Swahili).

All the money donated during the naming contest will be donated to a conservation fund for the zoo.

Burreaux was born December 26th to first-time mother Rosie and father Rowan.
