157 animals were rescued by authorities discovered in a single home in Terrytown.

Jefferson Parish Officials said they were found Monday night.

A warrant was executed by Jefferson Parish Animal Control Officers based on "probable cause of animals needing intervention."

"Once we were in the house, we realized quickly the animals needed to be removed” Shannon Neal, Chief Animal Control Officer for Jefferson Parish told WWL-TV.  “Sometimes people take on more animals than they can handle and it leaves them unable to provide the minimum standard of care.”

A total of 83 chickens, 57 dogs, seven rabbits, six nursing puppies, two baby chicks, one pigeon and one quail were recovered and are being evaluated by veterinarians.
