A federal appeals court decision means authorities in Louisiana still cannot enforce a state law setting 21 as the minimum age for exotic dancers.

The ruling by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans was a victory for three women who were ages 18, 19, and 20 when their lawsuit was filed last year challenging the law.

Legal analyst Tim Meche says this should force the Louisiana Legislature to do a rewrite of the law.

''The legislature didn't do a very good job in drafting this legislation saying you had to be 21 years old to engage in that adult activity,'' Meche said.

Could this case to all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court?

''It's doubtful the Supreme Court will get involved in this," Meche said. "I think the remedy is that the legislature just has to draft proper legislation."

How much time will lawmakers spend on this issue compared to other pressing priorities is the big question, according to Meche.
