LSU made  a statement Saturday in Baton Rouge.

Make that a 'STATEMENT'!

With an impressive 36-16 win against No. 2 Georgia, LSU showed it's a real player in the race for the SEC title - and for a College Football Playoff berth.

The 13th-ranked Tigers, a touchdown underdog, bullied the Bulldogs, who became the 3rd Top 10 team toppled by Tigers this season.

LSU outplayed and outcoached Georgia, playing too rapidly for the beleaguered Bulldogs to keep up. The Dawgs defense could barely get lined up, and had no time to catch their breath, with LSU going 4-for-4 on fourth-down gambles.

Kicker Cole Tracy was also perfect, going for 5 for 5 on field goal attempts to tie a team record.

The Tiger defense, meanwhile, shut the high-powered Georgia offense down, forcing four turnovers and getting three sacks.

LSU gains eight spots in this week's AP College Football Poll, moving up to #5 and knocking Georgia down to #8.

After four of the top eight teams lost, The Associated Press college football poll had a new look behind No. 1 Alabama, with Ohio State reaching No. 2, LSU jumping back to No. 5 and Michigan moving into the top 10 for the first time this season.
