Former Slidell postal worker admits to theft of checks, gift cards, cash

NEW ORLEANS (AP) _ A former postal worker has pleaded guilty to stealing mail when she worked at a U.S. Post Office in Louisiana.
U.S. Attorney Peter Strasser says in a news release that 25-year-old Bria Davis worked at the post office in Slidell. Prosecutors said that from September 2016 until January 2017, she stole mail containing checkbooks, gift cards, cash and checks.
Davis entered the guilty plea on Thursday and agreed to make restitution to five victims who lost amounts ranging from $45 to $135.
Sentencing was set for June 27. The maximum possible penalty includes a five-year prison sentence and a fine of up to $250,000.
