A number of local festivals celebrate fall in the metro area this weekend.

Large screen TVs are one feature you'll find at all of them.

"We went out and rented a large LED Diamond screen. So, we'got a 12-foot by 7-foot screen that we going to feature the games on at the fest," says Keith Bouvier, with the Westwego Cypress Swamp Fest.

"It's a three-day music festival, Friday through Sunday. We have a great lineup of bands. Some swamp pop and on Saturday, we have country music."

Why is it called the Westwego Cypress Swamp Fest?

"Well, it started 24 years ago and we had it in the Westwego Park, which had a line of cypress trees and stuff," says Bouvier. "And basically, Westwego's known for the swampland and stuff like that. So, that's where it got its name."

And, it's still appropriate at the festival's new location, the Westwego Farmer’s Market on Sala Ave.

"We have a few cypress trees there," he says.
