Caddo Parish sheriff's deputies say a large alligator has taken a bite out of one of their patrol cars.

The deputies were called Monday to a location on Louisiana Highway 1 when a gator was spotted there, in the middle of the road.
According to the sheriff's office, the deputies were waiting for wildlife removal experts to arrive when the reptile chomped off a piece of the front bumper. Deputies say the alligator was about 8 feet long.
A photo from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office Facebook page shows the reptile in grass next to what appears to be the black rectangular grill of the car.
The gator escaped before the wildlife removal experts arrived.
