Work on the new terminal at Louis Armstrong International Airport has entered its final days.

In the next few weeks the last of touchups and prep work on the terminal interior, lighting, plumbing, set up are taking place.

However, the Airport Board has yet to issue an official opening date.

Recent delays, according to the Times-Picayune/Advocate, involve the moving of a utility box from the path of a roadway.

An important milestone was reached as a successful test of the terminal baggage handling equipment means the system is now certified.

Meanwhile, restaurant and food service vendors, gift shops and boutique businesses close to being cleared to start moving in next week.

Some vendors have been told they can expect to start occupying by October 23rd.
