The New Orleans Police Department fired an officer after concluding an investigation into a car chase that involved a traffic accident, The New Orleans Advocate reports.

The incident happened February 4, 2017, according to The Advocate's report. Witnesses reported seeing an NOPD unit with flashing lights pursuing a white Buick on the Downman Rd. entrance ramp to the I-10 when the Buck crashed into a red Kia.

Aristotle Stephens denied pursuing the Buick or witnessing the crash, but The Advocate report says dashboard camera evidence from his patrol car indicated otherwise. Chief Harrison dismissed Stephens last month.

The newspaper reports Stephen's intends to appeal his dismissal to the New Orleans Civil Service Commission.
