A Danish war veteran of Afghanistan and Iraq was murdered while vacationing in New Orleans, according to Danish media reports, said The New Orleans Advocate.

Danish media reports Poul Hansen was shot to death over the weekend. He had been staying at a motel in the 6300 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

New Orleans Police confirm a man found Saturday, shot to death in the 4200 block of America Street, just blocks away from that motel.

According to Danish media, Hansen was traveling across the U.S. by motorcycle with a group of friends. They report his belongings are missing and suspect the motive was robbery, although New Orleans Police have not released anything about potential motive in this case.

Police say anyone who has information on the America Street homicide should call NOPD Seventh District Detective Danae Scheuing at (504) 658-6070 or Homicide Detective Eric Illarmo at (504) 658-5300, or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111 or toll free at (877) 903-7867 (STOP). Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their names and may be eligible for a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.
