It's been eight years since the explosion on the Deepwater Horizon and the oil spill rocked the Gulf Coast.

Billions of dollars have been paid out by BP, and yet the legal battles are far from over.  Retired Lt. General Russell Honoré says there are still many victims waiting for compensation after refusing to take a quick check.

''Some people opted out of the suit, and many of those are the ones we are trying to address now, because they have been waiting eight years,'' Honoré said.

Honoré says many cleanup workers, civilians and members of the National Guard and Coast Guard, started suffering ill effects later.

''The consequences of that, is that many of them overtime became ill or died waiting for their day in court,'' said Honoré. '' It is not over, it is long from over and I'm still upset.''

There is a rally for the victims at Duncan Plaza, across from New Orleans City Hall, at 11:00 a.m. Saturday.
